Single Direction Thrust Ball Bearings (51100, 51200, 51300, and 51400 Series) are separable precision rolling bearings designed strictly to accommodate high unidirectional axial loads. These assemblies consist of a shaft washer featuring a ground bore that matches the shaft diameter, a housing washer with a slightly larger bore clearance to seat into the housing, and a ball and cage thrust assembly.

Product Overview

Because these bearings transmit force exclusively at a contact angle parallel to the shaft axis, they cannot support any radial loads. Single direction thrust ball bearings are manufactured with flat housing washers (for rigid seating) or spherical aligning housing washers ( paired with seating rings to accommodate initial shaft misalignment). They are widely specified in crane hooks, vertical water pumps, centrifuge separators, machine tool tailstocks, steering jacks, and low-speed industrial swivels.

Low Operational Friction & Smooth Motion: Ground raceway geometry paired with guided steel or brass cages yields low rolling resistance and high running accuracy at moderate speeds.

Self-Aligning Washers Option (U / align series): Available with spherical housing washer seats to automatically adjust for initial angular mounting misalignment between the housing and shaft.

Strict Radial Isolation Requirements: Must not be subjected to radial forces; combining with a radial bearing (e.g., deep groove or needle bearing) is required for mixed-load applications.
